Mr. West is a veteran yacht broker and career-long advocate for recreational boaters and the yacht brokerage industry. A life-long boater, he has had the opportunity to spend time on the water throughout the world, both professionally and recreationally.

A current Board member, and past president of the California Yacht Brokers Association, Dean chairs both the Advocacy and Legislation committee, as well as the Ethics Committee for the CYBA. In his role as Advocacy and Legislative Chair, Dean represents the CYBA’s interests on local, state, and national fronts, including the American Boating Congress in Washington DC and the California Boating Congress in Sacramento. In his role as Ethics Chair, he counsels brokers and salespersons of professional and ethical expectations in the brokerage industry and writes regular articles on yacht sales ethics and best practices for the CYBA News.

Dean was a founding member of the San Diego Superyacht Association, an early member of the Certification Advisory Council (CAC) of the CPYB program, and one of the first Certified Professional Yacht Brokers (CPYB) in California. Dean sat on the Board of the International Yacht Council (IYC) and has interacted regularly with brokerage and recreational boating groups throughout the US.
