Lieutenant Junior Grade Walker, a native from the sunshine state Florida, joined the Coast Guard in 2017. She has been serving on active duty for five years and started her military training in Cape May, NJ (where heroes are made). Making her way coast to coast from Petaluma, CA to St. Petersburg, FL and is currently serving at Sector Los Angeles – Long Beach in the Marine Environmental Response Branch.
Alongside a team of eight Marine Science Technicians, she investigates and responds to oil spills and hazardous substance releases along 350 miles of environmentally sensitive coastline; including the Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary & Port of Los Angeles/Long Beach, the nation’s busiest & most economically vital container-port complex.
