Tom is an avid sailor, inventor and entrepreneur who literally grew up at the famed R.E. Derecktor Inc. boatyard of Mamaroneck NY. Tom received his BSME from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1988 but learned the marine trades from master craftsmen; building America’s Cup winner Stars and Stripes, CakeWalk (largest yacht built in the US), USN and USCG patrol craft.

In 1994, Tom founded “TracRac Inc.”, a manufacturer of patented automotive cargo management products. TracRac grew to become a Tier 1 Supplier to Ford, GM, and Chrysler and was sold to Thule in 2009.

Tom later founded BluSource Energy and Derecktor Marine Technology (DMT) in Bristol, Rhode Island to develop hydrokinetic turbines for ARPA-e/Brown University. DMT also develops new products and produces complex CNC machined components for yacht and military customers.
