Brian W. Jones was born on a military base in Austin, TX and moved to San Diego County when he was ten-years old. He attended Grossmont College and then earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration at San Diego State University. Brian took his passion for his community and first served as a Santee City Council Member. He was then elected to serve in the State Assembly and State Senate.
In 2022, Brian was elected to represent California’s 40th Senate District. Brian is proud to serve as the Senate Minority Leader of the California Senate Republican Caucus. Brian’s platform focuses on Fixing California—reducing the cost of living, acting on homelessness, tackling rising crime, and restoring educational excellence.
During the 2023-2024 legislative session, Brian is sponsoring numerous notable pieces of legislation, including legislation that suspends the $1/gallon gas taxes and fees, compassionately clears encampments while delivering services to the homeless, helps end human trafficking, and stops sexually violent predators from being dumped in our communities.
Brian has been married to his wife Heather since 1992 and they currently live in Santee. They enjoy spending time with their three adult children and son-in-law. In his free time, Brian loves anything outdoors; he is an avid mountain biker, adventure motorcyclist, occasional hunter/angler, and is always trying to find time to explore every state park in California.
